I tried both of the two cards I have and same problem. I tried them both in the other two slots and it worked fine, it just said the card had to be in the first slot to proceed. Ok, so I know it is not the cards as I still have them in my new system and they work fine, everything did. My conclusion was that the primary PCI-E slot was faulty.
